Beautiful.
It has moved me.
Life seemed unfair at times, but this kind of poetry let me see the bright side of everything at least for one moment.
Thanks

@April Q Foolies:
Okay... that was just a cruel April Fools. I'll admit, it got me... but grrr... they (DreamHost) sent out their newsletter via Email only yesterday (The 5th) and I had not checked the web-based newsletter yet to see that the original post was on the 1st.
I am very relieved to hear that things will be staying the same! As I mentioned in the post, there are just some things that I don't see how they would transfer to another panel.
Thanks again for the Apr Fools reveal.

In response to: Spinning Grocery Bags
quixjote [Member]
Quick update on this:
I have been spinning as I get more bags instead of throwing the bags away. I already have about 15 yards of two strand plastic yarn (probably the equivalent of a fine strand... ~1 to 2mm thick).
I am not really good at knitting or crochet, so if anyone would like to buy the plastic yard directly, let me know how many yards you would like. The finished yarn will be a spun yarn of 2 strands of the double strand. The colors vary on the plastic that I have on hand. Right now I am thinking around $0.15/Yard of the 2-ply plastic yarn. (+ S&H if Applicable)
Shoot me a message if you want some.

I thought that the hosts did alright. Not the most memorable evening as far as hosts are concerned, but that is not a bad thing either.
Although, at times it kinda felt like a roast for Hugh Jackman.
I really like when they did the projection of Bob Hope though. Being a nerd, I always like that sort of thing though.

What did you think of the hosts? I've read a lot of yes and nos for them.

What’s doing the selling, lust or sex? How about an all female bikini yard maintenance service? They don’t even have to know how to start a mower. Carrying small hand tools back and forth across the lawn would be sufficient.
Think I’ve brought this one up before... Bikini Hair Salons for men - I’d pay $25 for a haircut and leave a $10 tip.

Oh, here is the visitor count for January 2011!
Each Visitor averaged about 5 page views! Keep in mind: This blog started on the 11th of January.
Now that people are starting to read this on a more regular basis we are starting to see back-linking to this site. Here is to 5x growth in Feb 2011!!!

I feel like I'm standing on a deck and looking at my feet, only there's a rant there! The colors tie together nicely.

If guns kill people, then pencils are responsible fo failing your exams. Gun control = banning cars because of drunk drivers.
I think a basic gun safety course should be given to every child in America. Just the basics.
1. Every gun is always loaded.
2. Do not point a gun at anything you are not willing to kill or destroy.
3. Be aware of your backstop, and what is behind it.
4. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and ready to fire.
If every kid in America knew these rules, and *applied* them, we'd never have another negligent shooting. Wouldn't that be nice?

My solution for rounded corners is to simply create four images using The Gimp (left rounded, right rounded, horizontal line and vertical line) , thickness to your desire. Then simply use the paint tool to flood the pieces to a desired color. The left and right corners can be flipped on the X axis and used as lower corners. The horizontal and vertical pieces inter-changeable. This is all made possible using the CSS border-image property.
Easy browser-safe solution.

In response to: A fridge that cooks too!

At least it wasn't the freezer part, been there done that. We came home from a trip last Thanksgiving, that got extended because I broke some ribs with a bad cough... tied for worst pain in my life, try it sometime. :p But that's another horror story. A poorly-placed roast had fallen out of the freezer, probably days back. Not only was everything in the freezer spoiled, but everything in the fridge section was frozen. The compressor had been running 24/7 trying to get the freezer temperature down. Note to self, never put your lettuce in the freezer.

As bad as it sounds, I find myself having less and less respect for society in general these days. A band aid on a cut starts out as a good thing until it becomes stinky, the wound becomes infected and it all needs to be cleaned up and changed.
At the age of five I knew not to point guns at people... not even toy ones. What some call common-sense is completely unknown to others. Guns don't kill people, people kill people and if there were not an innocent victim involved... I'd say let em kill each other so the tax payer doesn't have to take on added responsibilities.

You should NEVER let a kid handle a gun without training them properly. My dad taught my siblings and I how to handle guns, and he would have smacked the crap out of us if we ever did anything like pointing them at each other.

In response to: Energy Tip 6 - Dimbat
quixjote [Member]
This would be true, except you are not reducing the amount of energy used at all. It appears that you are reducing the energy because the bulb itself is using less energy, so you still get the visual difference, but the energy still has to pass through the rheostat dimmer to get to the light.
At the lowest load, you get the brightest light, but as the energy has to pass through a larger resistance, you see less light, but you get minimal difference on the source end.
If you want an experiment, hook a meter up to even a battery powered light source on a potentiometer. Hook the meter up both before and after the potentiometer. You will find that the power that goes from the potentiometer to the light will be less, but the power being drawn from the source TO the potentiometer will be almost the same. After time you will also notice that your potentiometer will start to get warm ;)
No, where the savings come in is the TRIAC based electronic dimmer. they literally toggle the power (Literally turn off and on) to the light source at a rate fast enough to that we can see a solid light, but at a variable control to allow us determine (how long) the bulb is turned on.
We do not see the results because on the light side of the TRIAC there is usually up to a 100nF capacitor that is used for discharge for those short moments when the TRIAC is switched to off.
